Dip-dye.

Stemmed from the bold grunge girls of the 90's, who rocked rainbow hair & do-it-yourself bangs.
Dip-Dye hair has become an increasingly popular trend of 2011.
Many celebrities have dip-dyed (Katy Perry, Drew Barrymore, Kate Bosworth & Lauren Conrad) & has also made an appearance on the runway (Proenza Schouler Spring 2010 and Jeremy Scott Fall 2011).

Aura Friedman (Celebrity hair colorist and Wella ambassador) who has styled the locks of Lady Gaga, MIA and Sky Ferreira, believes there are three distinct reasons behind this trend.

"One, Lady Gaga has helped open mainstream people to the idea of unusual colored hair; two, the use of colored pieces and wigs in many editorial stories in all magazines and amongst many celebrities and three, the DIY aspect. When I do a fun color on my client's pre-lighted hair, I will mix some of the direct dye color with conditioner and give it to them to take home as a refresher," Friedman explained

 How to:

If you do not feel confident enough to do-it-yourself, take an example picture of the depth & volume you desire. This look is a good way to show the care-free & wild you, so experiment with colours & have fun!

August & September Loves.

As the first official blog of Wild Frankie & as it's coming to the end of another month, I thought I would kick-start this blog with my August & September Loves.

Over the last couple of months 'Grunge' has taken a huge part in my recently bought items. Inspired by 90's Punk Rock bands, graffiti filled streets & late night rendezvous. The thing I have found best about this look is (if done right) can be cheap, unique & completely open.

Here is a list of 10 key items I have chosen to create this look.

1. Acid Wash denim

2. Combat Boots

Now I absolutely love this style of shoe. Combat boots come in a range of colours, brands & prices. If your lucky enough you can pick some up from your local op-shop for (hopefully) quite cheap. If not ebay has a wide range including 'the king of boots' Doc Martins.
3. Flannelette shirt.

Ripped at the arm, tied round the waste. 'Flannys' are cheap, comfortable & available in all colours & patterns.
4. Band T'shirts

Now this is where YOU can decide which is a band to wear. Personally I look for a old-school timeless band such as: The Rolling Stones (as pictured) Led Zeppellin, Pink floyd, Alice in Chains, The Beatles, Nirvana etc.
5. Velvet

Anything velvet. Velvet is a good way to set you apart from others, or if your looking for something a little more dressy but still 'grunge'. I picked myself up a pair of maroon velvet leggings from ebay for under $30. Paired with a loose singlet or tee is an easy get-up for a day out or gig.
6. Leather pants or 'Wet Look' leggings

7. Bikers Jacket

8. Ripped Boyfriend Jeans

9. Accessories
Anything from skull rings to wooden cross necklaces, leather bracelets & chains.
